Diontae Johnson is a wide receiver who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League. Johnson, in his short time in the league so far, has made regular appearances in the end zone. He is one of the up and coming players at his position in the league, and has shown that he is capable of great things.
Diontae Johnson played high school football at Earl J. Lennard High School in Ruskin, Florida. Johnson used that time to attract attention from Division I football programs. He chose to play at the next level at the University of Toledo in the Mid-American Conference.
At Toledo, Johnson benefited from a program that tends to play an uptempo style on offense. Johnson averaged over 16 yards per catch in his college career, putting in three productive years at Toledo. He scored 23 receiving touchdowns, with 13 of those scores coming in his sophomore season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Johnson as a 3rd round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Johnson was used as a wide receiver and a punt return specialist right away. His rookie season saw Johnson score five receiving touchdowns and one return touchdown. In Johnson’s second year as a pro, he was used more as a receiver than a returner, making 88 catches and scoring seven touchdowns for a playoff-bound Steelers team.
Diontae Johnson signed a four-year, $4.2 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019. Of that $4.2 million, roughly a quarter of that is Johnson’s signing bonus. He is under contract with Pittsburgh until the end of the 2022 season.
Diontae Johnson is the son of Leo Johnson and Felicia Boyer. He does not in a known relationship at this time and does not have any children at this time.
