Overall Rating
FoxBet is an online sportsbook from Fox Sports that allows sports fans to bet online on a number of different sports in a number of states. With a wide range of bets available to be made, including some unique promotions and features, FoxBet is worth checking out no matter how you feel about their sports media offerings. In this review of FoxBet, we tell bettors everything they need to know about how to use this site and what is available to bet on.

About FOX Bet

FOX Bet was conceived in May 2019 through a partnership between sports media giant Fox Sports and online gaming company The Stars Group, which operated brands like PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.

In October 2019, The Stars Group was acquired by Flutter Entertainment. The transaction gave birth to the world’s largest online gambling company when measured by revenue. It also made FOX Bet a brother sportsbook of FanDuel, the No. 1 betting house in the U.S. in terms of market share.

Since then, and largely powered by the reputation of the Fox Sports brand, FOX Bet has aimed to position itself as an attractive alternative for bettors. It has acquired the necessary licensing to operate in Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

FOX Bet Promotions

One of the disadvantages of FOX Bet is that unlike many of its counterparts, it does not offer a welcome bonus. However, this might be temporary. In the past, FOX Bet has offered a risk-free first bet up to $500, so we recommend that you stay tuned to Lines.com, as we will keep you updated on any new promotions.

Bet Boost Offers

A promotion that has gained popularity with FOX Bet users is its bet boost offer, which increases the potential payout of a wager. Log in to your FOX Bet account, go to the Promotions tab, and see which games or teams are eligible for a bet boost.

Challenges Section

As you increase your betting activity with FOX Bet, the sportsbook will design tailored promotions that cater to your sports of interest. Based on this, FOX Bet will create personalized challenges. If you complete those challenges, you will be eligible to earn exclusive rewards such as bonus bets. Go to the Promotions tab, click/tap on the challenges section, and then on the ‘View Challenges’ button. The more challenges you complete, the more opportunities will become available.

Legal States

FOX Bet has been legally authorized to take bets in Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

College Team Betting Restrictions

FOX Bet, like any other sportsbook that operates legally in the United States, must comply with the regulations established by each state. Some of the stricter regulations have to do with games involving collegiate teams or athletes.

In Colorado, FOX Bet is prohibited from taking prop bets on individual players. In New Jersey, FOX Bet customers are forbidden from betting on in-state college teams, and similarly, from wagering on any college-level game that takes place in the Garden State, even if it features teams from other states.

Comparison to Other Sportsbooks

Compared to other sportsbooks in the country, like FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, and BetMGM, FOX Bet is lagging in terms of adoption and popularity. The sportsbook does not offer a welcome bonus or many promotions, something that nowadays is important to attract new customers.

However, the platform does have some strengths. One of them is having FOX as a partner, which can give FOX Bet customers an exclusive edge in terms of the sports coverage offered by FOX Sports. FOX Bet has also garnered praise because of its competitive odds.

App Top Features

There are particular features offered by FOX Bet that distinguish it from its competitors…

Live Betting

FOX Bet boasts plenty of live betting offerings on several sports. Also, user reviews show that the odds are fair. Something that we can expect in the future is that FOX Bet will implement live streaming. This is an area where the partnership with Fox Sports can be of great value.

Early cash out

In selected markets, FOX Bet allows bettors to cash out early, which helps them to secure their winnings. The sportsbook applies this benefit to both pre-game and live bets, as long as they are within the eligible markets.

Poker and Casino Offerings

If you want to venture outside the realm of sports betting, FOX Bet also boasts top-notch poker and casino games, both powered by PokerStars. FOX Bet’s interface seamlessly integrates with both, permitting bettors to diversify their entertainment. Poker and casino are easily accessible from the app, which makes the process of switching from one to the other hassle-free.

User Interface

Something that stands out from the FOX Bet app is that its user interface is clean and easy to navigate. The bar at the bottom clearly displays the betslip and links to the user’s account details, and the menu is sleek and permits bettors to go from one sport to the other. Once a game has been selected, all the potential wagers are distinctly listed and neatly classified.

Live Statistics

Even if FOX Bet does not have live streaming yet, the statistical realm is one where FOX Sports’ hand is evident. Once a bettor selects a game to wager on, the sportsbook displays several statistics that can assist in the decision-making process. Before the game, these include implied probability and potential lineups, and once the game is in play, FOX Bet shows every relevant stat that could help a bettor predict the outcome of the game.

Odds Presentation

Since FOX Bet is a platform established in the United States and primarily catering to the North American market, it defaults to presenting odds in the American format.

If you are not familiar with American odds, here are some initial points to help you gain more clarity:

  • When a team is favored to win, or an outcome is more likely to happen, American odds will have a negative number. For example, -150.
  • When a team is not favored to win, or an outcome is considered unlikely to happen, American odds will have a positive number. For example, +170.
  • The Profit Formula for Negative American Odds is = (100/Odds) * Wager
  • The Profit Formula for Positive American Odds is = (Odds/100) * Wager
  • Note that in both of the formulas, the result will be your profit, and in addition to that, if your bet is successful, you will recover the initial amount you wagered.

Visa/MasterCardProcessed in one hour. Allow 3-10 business days for the funds to appear on your statement.
PayPalProcessed immediately. Funds are available in a few minutes.

Once the amount of your initial deposit has been surpassed, you can withdraw any excess money through whichever acceptable method you choose.

Placing Bets

FOX Bet provides bettors with plenty of wagering opportunities. Here are some of the most popular bets that you can place once you create your FOX Bet account.

Moneyline

A moneyline bet is a wager on a team to win the game outright. The score doesn’t matter, all that the sportsbook considers is whether the team we won or lost the game. For example, if the Los Angeles Lakers are playing against the Los Angeles Clippers, a bet on the Lakers would be successful if they win the game, no matter the margin.

Point Spread

The point spread is a margin or handicap given to level the playing field. The point spread is also known as the run line (baseball), puck line (ice hockey), or goal line (soccer).

For a bet on the spread to be a winner, the team considered the favorite needs to cover the line. For example, if the Tampa Bay Rays are playing the San Diego Padres, and the Rays have a -2.5 run spread, it means that Tampa needs to win the game by at least three runs for the wager to be successful.

A straight bet consists of one single wager independent of any other outcomes.

Parlays

A parlay bet is a combination of two or more individual bets. Each bet within the parlay is called a “leg.” In order to win a parlay bet, all of its legs must win.

For example, a three-team parlay including the Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and New England Patriots. If the Patriots and the Titans win, but the Lions lose, our parlay would be lost as a result.

Over/Under (Totals)

An over/under bet is based on the combined number of points scored in the game.

Here’s an example:

The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Ottawa Senators in an all-Ontario ice hockey classic. For this high-stakes game, the total is set at 6.5 goals. If we bet on the over, we are saying that the total number of goals scored by both teams combined will be at least seven goals. If we bet on the under, we are predicting the teams will combine for six goals or less.

Alternate Lines and Totals

Especially in the most popular sports, like football, baseball, soccer, and basketball, bettors are given the opportunity to modify the point spread to boost their chances of winning.

When placing bets on alternate lines, you can place your wager on a point spread or a total that is different from the standard line provided for a particular game.

As an example, let’s assume the regular line on a game between the Golden State and Sacramento is Warriors -4.5 points.

We believe that the Warriors will win this game by double-digits. Therefore, we decide to place an alternate line bet on the Warriors at -9.5 points. Because of the added risk, our payout will be substantially higher than betting on the regular spread.

Conversely, we can use the alternate line to reduce our risk. Using the same example, we can say that we expect the Kings to pull off the upset, but we prefer to protect our downside. Therefore, instead of betting on the regular spread, we decide to add a few extra points, and we bet on the Kings +8.5 points. If the Kings lose the game by eight points or less, our bet would still win. However, our odds would be lower than they would have been at Kings +4.5.

Teaser Bets

When two or more alternate lines are combined, it is called a teaser bet.

Teasers have specific rules. In football, teasers usually give the bettor six points.

Here is an example:

The New York Jets are playing the Green Bay Packers.

The regular spread is -3.5 for the Jets, while the over/under is set at 48.5 points. Both bets have individual odds of -110.

If we decide to combine both bets, we would get a teaser bet.

As we can see, our odds would be less. However, in return, we are getting six points for each of our selections. This means that, if we bet on the Packers and the over, our bet would look like this:

  • Packers +9.5 points
  • Over 42.5 points

For a teaser bet to win, both of the outcomes we predicted need to occur. In the case outlined above, the Packers would need to win the game or lose by a maximum of nine points, and both teams would need to combine for at least 43 points.

Futures Bet

A futures bet is a wager on a distant event or outcome. For MLB, these wagers include predicting the teams that will make the playoffs, who will win the World Series, and which players will lead the league in various categories.

An advantage of placing a futures bet is that the odds are generally more favorable, since the pick is made early on, which renders the outcome more uncertain. However, because of this, we must be aware that the odds are likely to fluctuate as the event approaches, or as the season gets underway.

Let’s assume that before the season, we bet on a team to win the Super Bowl. If it happens, our bet will pay out at the odds offered at the time we placed the bet, which would be higher than the odds you would get if you placed the bet just before the game.

Props

These are picks that focus on specific outcomes within a given game. For example: Which team will lose the first fumble? How many touchdowns will a player score?

Usually, prop bets cover a wide range of possibilities and can be incredibly detailed. Examples of these are options to wager on the number of yards rushed or tackles made by a particular player.

As a result, prop bets are a good option for bettors who keep a close eye on the teams and the players. The more we understand the characteristics of the game, the better we are likely to fare wagering on prop bets.

Round Robin Bets

A round robin bet consists of a combination of parlays that are placed together to mitigate the risk of losing.

Let’s say you choose four MLS teams to wager on: the Cincinnati FC, Los Angeles Galaxy, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Portland Timbers. If we decide to combine these four picks as a 2-pick round-robin bet, we would have six parlays, which would be combined as follows:

  • Parlay 1: Cincinnati FC + Los Angeles Galaxy
  • Parlay 2: Cincinnati FC + Vancouver Whitecaps
  • Parlay 3: Cincinnati FC + Portland Timbers
  • Parlay 4: Los Angeles Galaxy + Vancouver Whitecaps
  • Parlay 5: Los Angeles Galaxy + Portland Timbers
  • Parlay 6: Vancouver Whitecaps + Portland Timbers

The way this bet is structured, if two or more of our selected teams win their matches, we will win at least one of the parlays, and receive a payout for it.

One advantage of a round-robin bet is that it offers a way to potentially win multiple parlays with a single bet. Another benefit is that it hedges the risk of betting on one parlay only.

For instance, if three of the four teams selected above win their matches and our wager was a round-robin bet, we could still make money or minimize our losses. However, if we had placed a regular parlay, our entire stake would have been lost.

DFS App Review

Unlike some of its competitors, FOX Bet does not offer a native DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) app. As a result, there are no daily fantasy contests going on through the FOX Bet platform.

However, FOX Bet is owned by The Stars Group, which was acquired by Flutter Entertainment in 2019. Flutter Entertainment also owns FanDuel, one of the main DFS platforms in the United States. Visit the FanDuel DFS platform and get access to exciting contests and bonuses.

Sportsbook App Overview

FOX Bet has invested heavily to develop a cutting-edge mobile app that is compatible with both Apple and Android systems. The FOX Bet app also includes poker and casino–through its sister brand, PokerStars–which allows for seamless integration between the three forms of entertainment.

The app works well on a variety of devices. It’s user-friendly and easy to navigate, and users can quickly locate different features and functionalities such as the betslip, account settings, and available markets.

FOX Bet does a great job displaying statistics in a dynamic fashion for live betting purposes. It has an engaging, sleek layout that eases the process of making decisions.

There are over 8,200 ratings for the FOX Bet app on the Apple Store, and the sportsbook scores 4.4 out of 5. Some of the most common complaints include the lack of live customer service, the excessive security verifications which, according to the users, include requests for selfies holding utility bills to provide proof of address, and technical issues with the geocompliance feature. Positives include the user interface and the integration with PokerStars and casino.

In the Google Play store, the FOX Bet app has been downloaded over 1,000 times, and it has a score of 3.7 out of 5. There are over 1,600 user reviews. For Android users, the problems have been slow withdrawal times, the excessive verification process, and the lack of customer support, since there is no way to contact a human representative in real time. Positive feedback includes the high winning limits and the attractive bonuses such as free bets offered through FOX Super 6.

Customer Support

The lack of a proper customer support department is a drawback for FOX Bet, and one that has significantly hindered its progress in the market. While many other leading sportsbooks have 24/7 live chat features and a phone number that users can contact, FOX Bet only provides a help page. Of course, there is no real-time response, which is why bettors often post angry comments or reviews on both the App Store and Google Play store.

Even though bettors report receiving useful responses from the FOX Bet help department, the lack of a direct communication channel is something that is frustrating and an issue that FOX Bet management will surely take a look at if they decide to keep expanding across the U.S.

Key Takeaways

  1. However, there are some aspects that need improvement. FOX Bet doesn’t offer a welcome bonus, as of now, which positions it at a disadvantage compared to other sportsbooks. Also, there is no live streaming, surprising given the extensive sports coverage from Fox Sports. Withdrawals can also take a long time to process.
  2. The most pressing aspect FOX Bet needs to address is its lack of a real-time customer support communication mechanism. This is something that seems to frustrate bettors, as there is no way to quickly solve problems. Once this is addressed, FOX Bet’s ratings might improve, and it will be able to have a better chance in today’s competitive marketplace.
  3. FOX Bet has both advantages and disadvantages. Some of the pros include the partnership with FOX Sports, which gives the sportsbook unparalleled sports-related content with famous commentators they already know, as well as access to real-time statistics that help bettors make wagering decisions. The FOX Bet app is easy to use and the main sports are well-covered.

Loyalty Program

An important attraction factor for FOX Bet is its loyalty program, Stars Rewards. Since it’s combined with the rewards program offered by other Flutter brands such as PokerStars, it provides a dynamic way for bettors to earn non-betting rewards for their wagering activity, which can include free bets or coins for poker and casino games.

To further strengthen the connection with its customers and foster a sense of loyalty, FOX Bet tailors the rewards to the specific interests of the bettor, similar to the way it builds up challenges and promotions. This gamification strategy can be an effective way to generate engagement and bolster betting activity on the FOX Bet platform.

FOX Bet Partnerships

One of the core strengths of FOX Bet is its partnership with FOX Sports. Pundits like Nick Wright, Cris Carter, Clay Travis, Todd Fuhrman, and Rachel Bonnetta share valuable insights and make predictions on FOX Bet Live. The connection to FOX Sports also allows FOX Bet to have one of the best statistical coverages in the market. Whether it’s for pre-game or live bets, bettors can consult a wide array of stats to inform their decision-making.

It will be interesting if FOX Bet develops a collaborative strategy with its now-brother sportsbook FanDuel, since both are owned by Flutter Entertainment. Interesting partnerships could ensue especially from a DFS standpoint, or to incorporate more live streaming capabilities into both platforms.

FOX Bet has also made strides to build partnerships with teams in the regions in which it operates, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Colorado Rockies. As it gains a wider adoption around the nation, we can expect FOX Bet to keep working at building rapport with fans through team partnerships.

Responsible Gaming

By developing the following initiatives, FOX Bet sportsbook has made a strong commitment to responsible gaming

Age verification: One of the main responsible gaming priorities for FOX Bet is to stop underage betting, and the sportsbook takes active steps in this regard. First, when a new customer signs up, FOX Bet collects their name, address, Social Security Number, and birth date. Second, FOX Bet refrains from targeting underage customers, and it reminds prospective bettors that placing wagers is a criminal offense for people younger than 21.

Self-exclusion: Players who feel their betting habits are getting out of control can voluntarily opt to exclude themselves for a specified period of time. To ensure accountability and compliance, FOX Bet makes this decision non-reversible, which means that if you decided to exclude yourself from the sportsbook for one year, you will not be able to use your account for that entire period.

Setting limits: FOX Bet enables bettors to set limits on their wagering activity. There are four types of self-imposed limits customers can set:

  • Deposit limit
  • Sports stake limit
  • Spending limit
  • Playing time limit

FOX Bet uses these tools to protect customers and allow them to monitor their playing habits. The sportsbook also has a resource directory to help people connect to support groups like Gamblers Anonymous and organizations like the Responsible Gaming Council.

If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER.
