Ömer Yurtseven was born on June 19, 1998, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Standing at 7 feet tall and weighing 275 pounds, Yurtseven's journey to the NBA began in Turkey, where he developed his skills with the Fenerbahçe youth team. He later moved to the United States to play college basketball, first with North Carolina State and then with Georgetown University. His performances at Georgetown, where he averaged 15.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in his final season, caught the attention of NBA scouts.
