Discover all the latest sports betting odds to win the 2023-24 NFL AFC champion crown. Find all the favorites to win the AFC combined with the best NFL odds starting from the regular season, to the division title, to crowning the Super Bowl champions.
2023-24 AFC OPENING ODDS
According to several betting sites, the Kansas City Chiefs odds of being the big favorite team in the AFC makes sense just because they are the defending champions of not just the AFC, but the entire NFL. The Buffalo Bills, the 2022 AFC East winners, and the Cincinnati Bengals are not far behind in odds to win the AFC. The New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens are two teams that have boom or bust potential and they round out the top five, while the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers could also win the conference. Finally, the Jacksonville Jaguars are the dark horse and the longshot that could easily be a great bet to win the AFC and AFC South just based on the overall odds.
WHO IS FAVORED TO WIN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR?
The Kansas City Chiefs out of the AFC West have the best conference championship odds to win. Even with some uncertainty surrounding their defense this year, especially with Chris Jones holding out for a better contract, they have the best odds for the 2023 season. The odds favor the Chiefs to become the conference winner mainly because they still have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback - the best quarterback in the NFL and last year's NFL MVP. They also have the best coach in Andy Reid and the best tight end in Travis Kelce. They deserve being the top dog in the 2023-24 NFL season because they are the defending Super Bowl champs, even if they might have some question marks. They will be the top favorites until something happens.
AFC CHAMPIONSHIP BETTING HISTORY
The winner of the AFC Championship Game earns a bid in the Super Bowl against the NFC champion and also takes home the Lamar Hunt trophy, named after the founder of the AFL.
Since 2006, only three AFC teams that were preseason favorites have gone on to win the Super Bowl, let alone appear in it. Those teams were Indianapolis in 2006, and New England in both 2016 and 2018. The odds are stacked against the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat because now they have an even bigger target on their back than before. The smart bet might be to take the field when presented with the choice of either Kansas City or the field.

BEST BETS: AFC & NFL FUTURES 2023
Between the AFC and NFC, there are a whole host of odds available to kick off the season. Betting on the AFC is a popular NFL bet based on the betting lines and the latest NFL futures.
- Cincinnati Bengals (+500): This might be it for the core of Cincinnati’s offense. Next offseason Joe Burrow and some of the wide receivers are in line to get paid, so this could be it. The offense is loaded with Burrow (4,475 passing yards) and Joe Mixon (814 rushing yards) and Ja’Marr Chase (1,042 receiving yards) being the main priorities both through the air and on the ground. The defense should also be decent after allowing 335.7 total yards last season. Trey Hendrickson and Logan Wilson are also standouts in the linebacking corps too. The Bengals are set up for a run this season and are considered favorites by many to win the AFC North.
- Los Angeles Chargers (+1300): The Chargers have everything going for them after a huge disappointment last year in the playoffs. They revamped their offense and hired Kellen Moore as their new offensive coordinator. Justin Herbert (4,739 passing yards) is back at quarterback and has two great receivers in Keenan Allen (752 receiving yards) and Mike Williams (895 receiving yards) and then has Austin Ekeler (915 rushing yards) in the backfield with him on the ground. The defense needs to be better than it was last year which was 20th in yards allowed at 346.1 total yards. The defense has playmakers which is why it should be better with Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, J.C. Jackson, and Derwin James Jr. all being healthy.
On top of these, there are a number of player prop bets that have higher odds as well throughout the entire 2023 NFL season. You can choose from thing like total passing yards for Aaron Rodgers, how many touchdowns Josh Allen will throw, and so much more!
