Skal Labissiere was born on March 18, 1996, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Standing at 6 feet 10 inches and weighing 235 pounds, Labissiere moved to the United States following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. He attended the University of Kentucky, where he played under coach John Calipari. Labissiere declared for the NBA Draft after his freshman year, entering the league with high expectations due to his size and skill set.
