Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 200 pounds, Mudiay moved to the United States at a young age, where he showcased his basketball talent at Prime Prep Academy in Texas. He was a top recruit in the 2014 class and initially committed to play college basketball at SMU before opting to play professionally in China with the Guangdong Southern Tigers.
