Tennessee Joins Maine and Indiana in 2026 Sweepstakes Casino Crackdown The Tennessee General Assembly passed Senate Bill 2136 and House Bill 1885 on April 23, 2026. The Tennessee House voted 69-17-1 to send the bill to Governor Lee. Senator Ferrell Haile of Tennessee sponsored SB 2136. The new Tennessee law prohibits any platform using a virtual, dual, or multi-currency system. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti will enforce violations under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977. Operating a banned platform in Tennessee now carries felony exposure. Tennessee follows Indiana and Maine as the third state to ban sweepstakes casinos in 2026. Indiana’s ban takes effect July 1, 2026. Maine signed LD 2007 into law on April 18, 2026. Industry pullback predates the Tennessee law signing. Attorney General Skrmetti previously sent cease-and-desist letters that drove at least 39 platforms to restrict Tennessee. Affiliate brands including Stake.us, Chumba Casino, and High 5 Casino had already blocked Tennessee residents.
