Tennessee is the fifth state this year to outlaw dual-currency online casino platforms. Indiana, Maine, Louisiana, and Oklahoma had already passed bans. Players in all five states face hard shutdown deadlines.

Indiana’s ban takes effect July 1, 2026. Governor Mike Braun signed HB 1052 on March 13, 2026. Indiana players must redeem all Sweeps Coins before that date. The Indiana Gaming Commission can impose civil penalties on noncompliant operators. Maine’s ban follows on July 14, 2026. Governor Janet Mills signed LD 2007 into law in April 2026. Tennessee’s ban is already in force. Governor Bill Lee signed SB 2136 on May 22, 2026. The law took effect immediately, with no wind-down period for operators or players. Civil penalties under SB 2136 apply per violation to operators, promoters, and service providers. Most major platforms had already exited Tennessee before Governor Lee acted. Louisiana’s ban takes effect August 1, 2026. Governor Jeff Landry signed HB 883 on May 15, 2026. Louisiana also enacted HB 53, which expands the state’s racketeering statute to cover gambling violations. HB 53 carries severe criminal penalties under Louisiana’s organized crime laws.

Oklahoma operators have the longest runway. The Oklahoma Legislature overrode Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto of SB 1589 on May 15, 2026 (Legal Sports Report). SB 1589 takes effect November 1, 2026. The law classifies violations as felony offenses. Operators, suppliers, affiliates, and payment processors all face criminal exposure.
