Aaron Rodgers still has not told the Pittsburgh Steelers whether he will play in 2026. The NFL Draft opens Thursday night in Pittsburgh without a Rodgers answer.

Rodgers Timeline Leaves Steelers Between Draft and OTAs

Steelers president Art Rooney II spoke on WDVE’s DVE Morning Show on April 21. Rooney said the team is still talking with Aaron Rodgers. Rooney added that Rodgers has shared a timeframe with Steelers management. Rooney said an answer should arrive soon.

Steelers organized team activities begin on May 18. Rooney called a decision by OTAs “warm” when asked by the host. Mandatory minicamp then runs from June 2 to June 4. Pittsburgh hosts the 2026 NFL Draft from Thursday through Saturday.

Aaron Rodgers turned 42 years old in December 2025. Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns across the 2025 regular season. Pittsburgh went 10 wins and claimed the AFC North title under Rodgers. The Steelers then lost 30-6 to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.

The Steelers QB room currently holds Mason Rudolph and second-year Will Howard. Head coach Mike McCarthy coached Rodgers from 2005 through December 2018 in Green Bay. McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV together in February 2011. Pittsburgh could draft a quarterback or wait on Rodgers through minicamp.
