Stake.us will shut down for Illinois players on May 19, 2026. The Stake.us Illinois exit follows a cease-and-desist letter from the Illinois Gaming Board. Illinois accounts move to redeem-only mode on May 19. Players can log in and redeem balances but cannot play games or make purchases after the cutoff.

Why Stake.us Is Leaving and What Illinois Players Can Still Do

The Illinois Gaming Board issued cease-and-desist letters to 65 sweepstakes casino operators on February 5, 2026. Each letter demanded operators either block Illinois residents or stop offering prizes in the state. The IGB warned that noncompliance could expose operators, affiliates, and business partners to civil or criminal penalties. By mid-February, only JefeBet and Jumbo88 had restricted Illinois access out of 65 named platforms.

Stake.us notified Illinois players by email about the May 19 exit date. After May 19, Stake.us will place Illinois accounts into redeem-only mode. Illinois players can still log in and redeem active Sweeps Coins balances after the cutoff. Illinois players cannot join games, make purchases, participate in promotions, or earn new Stake Cash codes after May 19.

Stake.us is one of the few large operators to comply with the IGB order. Most of the other 63 platforms named in the February letters continue to serve Illinois players without restriction. Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, Pulsz, Crown Coins, and McLuck are among the platforms still active in Illinois. WOW Vegas restricted Sweeps Coins gameplay in Illinois on May 1.

Illinois has not yet enacted a sweepstakes casino ban at the legislative level. The IGB relies on existing state gambling statutes to support its enforcement action. Illinois legislators are considering bills that would further restrict sweepstakes casino access. Players in Illinois should monitor their email for additional platform shutdown notices.
