Standing at 6'3" and weighing 220 pounds, Johnson's athletic journey began at Central High School, where he quickly made a name for himself as a dual-threat quarterback. His impressive high school career, marked by his ability to both pass and run effectively, earned him a scholarship to play for the State University Wildcats (8-4).

During his college career, TJ Johnson has achieved several milestones, including leading the Wildcats to a conference championship in 2022. He was named the MVP of the championship game, throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns.
