Payton Matthews was born on March 15, 2002, in Birmingham, Alabama. Standing at 6'2" and weighing 210 pounds, Matthews began his football journey at Central High School, where he quickly established himself as a standout quarterback. His impressive high school career, highlighted by a 3,500-yard passing season, earned him a scholarship to a top NCAAF program.
Matthews is known for his dual-threat capabilities, combining a strong arm with exceptional mobility. His ability to extend plays and make accurate throws on the run sets him apart from his peers. Defenses struggle to contain his quick decision-making and ability to read opposing schemes, making him a constant threat both in the pocket and on the move.
In his sophomore year, Matthews led his team to a conference championship, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. His performance earned him First-Team All-Conference honors. Matthews' consistent improvement and leadership on the field have made him a key player to watch in the upcoming NCAAF seasons.
