He attended Hoover High School, where he excelled as a dual-threat quarterback, leading his team to multiple state championships. His high school performance caught the attention of several top college programs, ultimately committing to play for the University of Alabama.

Since joining the University of Alabama, DJ Tyler has rapidly become one of the standout players in the NCAAF. In his sophomore year, he threw for over 3,500 yards and accounted for 30 touchdowns, earning him a spot on the All-SEC First Team. His performance in the SEC Championship game, where he led a comeback victory, has been one of the highlights of his collegiate career.
