Utah Mammoth won their first Stanley Cup Playoff game Tuesday night. The Mammoth defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena. Utah evened the Western Conference First Round series at 1-1.

Cooley Crashes the Net to Deliver Utah’s First Playoff Win

Logan Cooley scored the go-ahead goal at 14:00 of the third period to give Utah a 3-2 lead. Dylan Guenther fired a shot that hit the left post. Cooley crashed the net, pounced on the loose puck, and slid it past Carter Hart’s right skate.

Guenther scored Utah’s second goal at 14:56 of the second period, burying a one-timer from above the left circle. Kailer Yamamoto assisted on that play and finished with two helpers. Karel Vejmelka made 19 saves to earn his first career playoff win.

Cooley, 21, set an NHL record as the youngest American to score in each of his first two playoff games. The previous benchmark was held by Utah captain Clayton Keller. For Vegas, Mark Stone scored a power-play goal in the first period, and Jack Eichel finished with two assists.

The Mammoth outshot the Golden Knights 13-4 in the second period. Game 3 shifts to Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET on TBS.
