The 2026 NCAA super regionals delivered program firsts and powerhouse statements. West Virginia and Troy reached the College World Series for the first time ever. Ole Miss swept Auburn to return to Omaha for the first time since 2022.

Cinderellas and Blue Bloods Split the Road to Omaha

West Virginia clinched its first Omaha berth with a 17-1 rout of Cal Poly on June 6. Troy advanced after a 7-2 win over Little Rock, backing a 12-2 Game 1 victory. Ole Miss completed a two-game sweep of host Auburn in the Auburn Super Regional. Three programs punched tickets before Sunday’s late slate even began.

West Virginia entered the super regionals unseeded nationally yet outscored Cal Poly by 16 runs. Troy stacked 19 runs across two games against Little Rock. Ole Miss leaned on a pitching staff that held Auburn to single digits twice. Run prevention separated every team that clinched a spot early.

Troy reached the Men’s College World Series for the first time in Troy program history. West Virginia matched that milestone as a first-time Omaha qualifier in 2026. Ole Miss owns one national title, captured in 2022 under coach Mike Bianco. Ole Miss now returns to Omaha four years after that championship run.

No. 6 Texas leads No. 11 Oregon after an 11-3 Game 1 win on June 6. Texas sits one victory from its 39th College World Series appearance. Southern California rallied past No. 5 North Carolina 9-5 in Game 1. USC outfielder Dean Carpentier broke that game open with a sixth-inning grand slam. Oregon arrived as the No. 11 national seed in the 2026 bracket.

No. 7 Alabama leads St. John’s 1-0 after an 8-0 Tuscaloosa shutout. Alabama can clinch its Omaha berth with one more win on Sunday. Texas, USC, and Alabama each carry Game 1 leads into elimination Sunday. Each best-of-three super regional now turns on a single result.

The College World Series opens in Omaha with eight teams chasing the 2026 national title. West Virginia, Troy, and Ole Miss hold three of those eight bracket spots. The remaining berths hinge on Sunday’s deciding super regional games. Charles Schwab Field Omaha hosts the double-elimination bracket starting June 13. The format splits the eight teams into two four-team brackets.
