John Covert was born on May 15, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. Standing at 6'3" and weighing 225 pounds, Covert began his football journey at Lincoln High School, where he quickly established himself as a standout linebacker. His high school career was marked by impressive stats, including a senior year with over 100 tackles and 12 sacks, drawing attention from top college programs.
