A superbly skilled lightweight power play specialist who has high end speed, hands, vision and edging, and was already playing 20+ minutes in the QMJHL. I think he has enough hardness to handle playing against big boys, but there will be many NHL instances where he will experience protected minutes of ice time, until Villeneuve can grow a more dominant / competent d-game. He has shown enough offensive dominance to achieve an eventual big league upside that mirrors a clone of “Quint Hughes” and his body frame weakens any arguments he is ever going to warrior on matched against an opposition’s first line, or on the PK. Achieved a point for game pace in the Q, and , releases quickly. His stick-handles, his high end offensive brilliance, due to his nimble feet and solid reading of the on-ice situations, finding explosiveness in his reactions, using his agility to fly out alluding checkers in puck recovery, and when he drive the zone entry.
