Very similar in style to his old brother, a quick sniper who finds the open areas and scores. A player who seems able to play at high speed tempo on the offense, and his compete level is off the charts as you watch him work to maintain possessions in the attack zone. He is woefully thin, but very fast. He might rank as one of the fastest wingers in the draft, along with James Hagens, but has less detail to his 200 foot game. Great stick, speed and compete. He is less sniper and more imaginative set up guy, but does have a slick quick release, and you would like him to take the shot when it is there, instead of defering to passing options. He is sort of responsible defensively, but I think he will need to shore up his defensive side. Eklund is fairly responsible defensively, has terrific edging to his skating, and a quick release, although he is more of a playmaker than sniper.
