New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team: 3 Best 'Thursday Night Football' Prop Bets
It's the start of Week 2 in the NFL and we have a fun NFC East matchup set for "Thursday Night Football" with the Washington Football Team (awesome name) battling the New York Giants (meh name). If this Thursday night game is anything like opening night in Tampa Bay, we are in for a fun night.
As always, I will be going through the books and finding the best prop bets of the night, as well as the best spread. Let us start this second week of the NFL season right with some winners.
As always, please remember to gamble responsibly.
DraftKings: Daniel Jones Under 236.5 passing yards (-115)
Daniel Jones has struggled against the Football Team for his entire career. In his four career starts against Washington, Jones' passing yards prop has hit the under three times. While the Giants will have to rely more on their passing game due to Saquon Barkley not being fully effective yet, the Washington defense should create problems the whole night, especially with their menacing front seven.
Against a poor offensive line, Chase Young, Montez Sweat and Jonathan Allen should have no problems getting to Jones. Since he has was drafted in 2019, Jones has led the league in fumbles with 30. If Washington's pass rush can get to the quarterback, and they will, Jones and the Giants will have no answers.
Barstool: Sterling Shepard To Score A Touchdown: Yes (+265)
Sterling Shepard was the Danny Dimes' favorite target in Week 1 with nine targets. He hauled in seven of those passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. While Jones and the Giants will probably have a rough night, New York will have to rely on the passing game to win so expect the Giants' forgotten man to come up big.
The Giants trailed the entire second half against the Broncos which forced them to pass more than they wanted to. Expect the same thing to happen in this one. Sure, this may put our Jones under passing yards prop in jeopardy, but all it takes is one drive for the Giants. The +265 odds are too good to not take a shot.
If Jones ends up hitting that passing total, the Shepard touchdown makes up for it, and then some.
FanDuel: Terry McLaurin Over 5.5 Receptions (-110)
It is pretty clear that Terry McLaurin is the best receiver on the Football Team. With his former Ohio State teammate, Curtis Samuel, still not ready to play, McLaurin should receive the bulk of the targets from Taylor Heinicke tonight. For his entire career, McLaurin has a career 64.5 percent catch rate. If he gets at least ten targets, which could be likely at this point, we have a pretty good shot.
While McLaurin had just four catches last week, they all came when Heinicke relieved the injured Ryan Fitzpatrick. All we need is for Heinicke to lock in on McLaurin tonight, and this is easy money.
Bovada: Best Spread: Washington Football Team -3.5 (+100)
Take advantage of some sensational odds and lay the 3.5 points tonight. With Fitzpatrick, the Football Team is probably a 5.5-6.5 point favorite.
Heinicke proved last season that he can be a top-tier backup after he diced up the Buccaneers in the playoffs. While it's unrealistic to think he can make a Super Bowl run, he can be relied upon to cover against the lowly Giants.
The Football Team should be giving out at least five points tonight. They are just so much more talented, especially on defense. The main factor will be if the Football Team's defensive line will dominate a weak Giants offensive line. If they do, the Football Team should win by at least a touchdown.
