Kyle Shanahan Goes Full-Nihilist About Jimmy Garoppolo's 49ers Future

The 49ers have a big decision looming with the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. And it might be getting to Niners coach Kyle Shanahan, who had a somewhat testy pre-draft press conference Monday.

After making the move up the draft board, the Niners are expected to take a rookie QB — either Mac Jones, Justin Fields or Trey Lance. That means Jimmy Garoppolo's days as a Niner are numbered.

But according to Shanahan, his days on Earth — along with ours — could be coming to a screeching halt.

When asked if Jimmy G is a lock to be on the roster by the end of the draft, Shanahan went full-nihilist: "I can't guarantee that anybody in the world will be alive Sunday."

Garoppolo's future in San Francisco was already in doubt, but now it seems set in stone that he won't be on the Niners' roster much longer.

If Shanahan can't make any roster moves based on that thinking, then it makes sense why he traded so many future first-rounders for the third pick.

But what to make of the Niners picking up the fifth-year option of right tackle Mike McGlinchey

We probably will never know our fate in life, but we will know Jimmy Garoppolo's 49ers fate fairly soon.
