Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers: 4 Best 'Thursday Night Football' Prop, Team Bets
Week 15 of the NFL season kicks off tonight as the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers in an AFC West showdown.
The Chiefs are three-point favorites on the road tonight and will look to win their seventh game in a row.
Kansas City will also have the chance to strengthen their lead in the AFC West and climb back up the AFC playoff standings.
As always, we have the three best props of the night, as well as the best bet of the night. All you have to do is relax, watch some football, and responsibly place some bets.
Here are tonight's winners.
FanDuel: PMI Super Boost: Patrick Mahomes To Have 1+ Passing Touchdowns In Each Half (+170)
The people's punter, Pat McAfee, gives out a super boost through FanDuel Sportsbook for every Monday and Thursday game. Tonight, his super boost is the best bet on the board for this game.
Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best quarterback I have ever seen, and his accolades to this point prove that. Tonight, Mahomes and the Chiefs have a tough AFC West matchup against the Chargers. While the Chargers' defense is 8th in yards per pass, 4th in passing yards per game, and 11th in opponents' pass completion percentage, the Chargers are also 27th in opponents' touchdowns allowed per game.
On the season, Mahomes has thrown 11 touchdowns in the first half, and in the second half, his stats get better across the board. In the second half of games this season, Mahomes is completing 67.2% of his passes for 7.5 yards per pass and 16 touchdowns. This is incredible value for an incredible talent, I would jump on this immediately.
Barstool: Justin Herbert Over 15.5 Rushing Yards (-117)
In his short career, Justin Herbert has already proven that he could be the next great quarterback in this league, he has all the tools. Herbert is very accurate, has a cannon for an arm, he is humble, and he seems to me like a natural leader. One underrated aspect of Herbert's game is how mobile he is.
While his passing stats is what gets the people going, he has gone over this rushing total six times this season, and he is averaging 5.6 yards per rush. The Chiefs allow the fifth-most rushing yards to quarterbacks this season (311), and while the Chiefs defense is playing better as of late, they are still allowing 4.6 yards per rush.
The Chargers might also be without Austin Ekeler tonight with an ankle injury, and the Chiefs are dealing with a Covid-19 issue that might keep Chris Jones out for the game. This will force the Chargers to open up the playbook and give Herbert more designed touches.
Draftkings Touchdowns Scorer Of The Night: Travis Kelce (+110)
Travis Kelce has not recorded a touchdown catch since Week 9 against the Packers. He did have a rushing touchdown against the Cowboys two weeks ago, but it is very unlikely he will have one tonight. He is going to have to catch a touchdown pass.
Since Mahomes became the full-time starter in Kansas City, Kelce has caught 31 touchdowns, and he has become one of the best downfield threats in the entire NFL. The Chargers have allowed eight receiving touchdowns to tight ends this season, which is tied for second-worst in the NFL.
Kelce is way too talented to go five weeks without a touchdown reception, and I am expecting a big night for Mahomes tonight. Mahomes has made Kelce one of his favorite targets in his career, and at +110 odds, this bet has some great value.
FanDuel: Best Bet: Chiefs -3 (-115)
Kansas City will be without Jones, Josh Gordon, and L'Jarius Sneed tonight. That is a lot to lose, but the Chargers injury report includes Ekeler, Asante Samuel Jr., and Derwin James. All three of those players are questionable, but if the Chargers are without James and Samuel Jr., the secondary will be exposed to Mahomes and one of the scariest offenses in the entire NFL.
Los Angeles has given the Chiefs fits recently, and in the last six matchups, the Chiefs are only 2-4 ATS. However, Kansas City has won six straight games on the road against the Chargers, and they have covered in four of their last five games this season. While the Chiefs are 6-7 ATS this season, we can say with confidence now that the Chiefs were just slumping to start the season, and their reputation inflated the spreads early on this year.
Both offenses are great and both defenses are average this season. For this game, I am betting on Mahomes to be just slightly better than Herbert.
