Carolina Panthers vs Houston Texans: 3 Best 'Thursday Night Football' Prop Bets

It's Thursday, so that means it's time for some prop bets for tonight's primetime showdown between the undefeated Carolina Panthers and the 1-1 Houston Texans.

It's not the sexiest "Thursday Night Football" matchup, sure, but that's nothing a little gambling won't fix.

There's money to be made on every game, no matter how entertaining. We've gone through the popular sportsbooks to find the three best prop bets and the total to bet on.

FanDuel: David Johnson Over 2.5 Total Receptions (+124)

With rookie quarterback Davis Mills getting his first start, it could be a big day for the check-down running back. When Mills took over for the injured Tyrod Taylor last week in Cleveland, he targeted Johnson three times in the second half. Johnson also leads the Texans' running backs in targets on the season with six.

The Texans won't be an aggressive team tonight because they just do not have the bodies to do so. Look for them to be very conservative in the passing game, which should easily give us the over on Johnson's receptions.

Barstool: Mark Ingram Over 35.5 Rushing Yards (-113)

As mentioned, the Texans are going to be very conservative tonight with their play calling. Look for a lot of dump-offs and running plays to be called tonight. On the season, Ingram has dominated the Texans' carries with 40. The next closest is Phillip Lindsay with just 13 carries.

Look for the Texans to start the game trying to establish the run. Until they are forced to pass the ball to try and get back in it, they will run the ball a lot which should push Ingram's total above 36 yards.

DraftKings: Robby Anderson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+175)

Even though this is Sam Darnold's first year with the Panthers, he has played 27 total games with Robby Anderson. In those games, Anderson has caught 92 passes for 1,448 yards and 12 touchdowns. Anderson has just four catches for 95 yards this season as Anderson's been relegated to a deep threat.

In this game, look for the Panthers to come out aggressive and put this game away early. The Texans are allowing 11 yards per completion, so look for Darnold and Anderson to hook up on a long touchdown pass.

Bovada: Best Bet: Under 43.5

Betting on Darnold to cover an 8-point spread on the road or Mills, making his first start, to upset the undefeated Panthers are risky propositions, so we'll with Plan C: wagering on the total.

The matchup is very favorable for the under. The Texans are starting a rookie quarterback against the No. 1 most efficient defense, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA, and the total has gone under in five straight games for the Panthers. If the Panthers control this game, it will go way under.

The Texans are going to have to run the ball early to be successful tonight. As we know, running the ball and the under are a good marriage. The under is the play here.
