2022 CFP National Championship Best Bets: Georgia Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson Tide

We have made it to the end of another wonderful college football season. The National Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis will feature the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Tonight is not only a rematch of the SEC Championship game, it is a rematch of the 2018 National Championship game in which Alabama knocked off Georgia thanks to a walk-off touchdown from Tua Tagovailoa to DeVonta Smith in overtime.

Once again, the Nick Saban vs former assistants storyline comes up as Kirby Smart will look to lead the Dawgs to their first National Championship since 1980. On the other side, Saban will look to secure his eighth National Championship, and become the oldest coach in college football history to win it all.

This college football season has been a delight, and tonight is the final chapter. We are here to give you the three best props of the night as well as the best overall bet.

Here are tonight's winners.

FanDuel Sportsbook: Jermaine Burton Over 34.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

On the season, Jermaine Burton is averaging just 2.2 receptions per game. However, he is averaging 19.5 yards per reception, and he hit this total against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, and his lone reception against Michigan in the Semifinals went for a 57-yard touchdown.

Burton has hit this number six times in his 11 games played this season. While Alabama is only allowing 6.8 yards per pass, they will be without starting corner Josh Jobe, and their other starting corner, Jalyn Armour-Davis is questionable after suffering an injury against Cincinnati.

If Alabama was fully healthy in the defensive secondary, I would stay away from this. But, since they are banged up, and Burton is a deep threat that can break the game at any moment, I am all over this number. All it takes is one catch, and I am more than willing to put some action on that tonight.

Barstool: Alabama Team Total: Under 24.5 (-112)

Yes, I watched the SEC Championship game, yes Georgia got their doors blown off, however, none of that matters. Georgia still has one of, if not the best defense in college football history.

The Georgia defense is still ranked first in scoring (9.8), points per play (0.149), and red zone scoring percentage (57.69%). They are also ranked second in yards (269.9) and yards per play (4.1), third in rushing yards (83.9), fourth in yards per pass (5.9), and fifth in yards per rush (2.7).

The Crimson Tide have only gone under this number twice this season, but those games were against Auburn and LSU. Basically, we have seen Alabama look bad against a lot worse than Georgia this season.

At the end of the day, Georgia got humiliated against Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Everything that made Georgia 'unbeatable" was exposed against Alabama. Personally, I think Georgia just had a flat game, and that game was the only time Georgia did not record a sack this season.

John Metchie tore his ACL against Georgia earlier in the season, and while Slade Bolden came in and has caught a touchdown against Cincinnati, they were able to beat the Bearcats with traditional Alabama football. They ran the ball almost every play and then played suffocating defense.

Unfortunately for Saban, that is not going to work against this Georgia front seven. I think that Alabama is going to come out flat, and if Georgia gets an early lead as they did against Michigan, Alabama is going to start pressing, and the Georgia defense will make them pay.

Bryce Young can absolutely change all of this, but if I had to bet on Young or the Georgia defense as a whole, I am going with the Dawgs.

DraftKings Touchdown Scorer Of The Night: Ladd McConkey (+300)

Although Ladd McConkey has only caught six passes over the last three games, McConkey has two touchdowns in his last three, and five touchdowns overall this season. One of those touchdowns came against Alabama.

The Dawgs have a lot of weapons on offense, and they added George Pickens back in the lineup. With Alabama shorthanded in the defensive secondary tonight, the Tide are going to have their hands full trying to slow down everyone on this offense.

Eventually, Alabama is going to have a breakdown because they are going to get overwhelmed. At +300 odds, McConkey has the most value for any of the anytime touchdown scorer props.

Bovada Best Bet: Georgia -2.5 (-115)

The Dawgs have lost seven straight against Alabama, and one of those was the heartbreaker in the 2018 National Championship game. While Alabama is 5-1 ATS in their last six as an underdog, Georgia is just a better team on paper, and I don't see how one team can beat them twice in a season.

Alabama did a great job confusing Stetson Bennett in the SEC Championship, and as a result, he threw two interceptions, one of which went back to the house. The game was practically over at this point, and honestly, I can see the same exact game happening, but Georgia is the team that wins by 17 this time.

There is no way that Georgia makes Bennett a big part of the game plan again, so it minimizes the risk of allowing turnovers and the Alabama defense making a game-changing play. All Georgia needs to do is control the pace, let their playmakers make plays, and have your historic defense shut down the Heisman winner and the greatest dynasty in college football history.

What can go wrong?
