Corrigan's Gambling Corner: College Basketball Best Bets - March 10, 2022

Welcome back to the gambling corner. We are back with some best bets for another wonderful night on the college hoops.

This is it, team. It is the biggest day of the year (so far). We got a taste of all-day basketball yesterday, but the matchups were not great. Today, we have wall-to-wall tremendous conference tournament games. I don't say this just to say it, but I LOVE the board today, and I will treat you all to the three-best plays of the day.

I hope everyone enjoys the day, and if your favorite team has struggled this season, I wish you all the best. We would love you to tail our picks, but we would especially love you to make a lot of money. As a sign of courtesy, we included the parlay odds for all three of our picks. We just ask that you always remember to gamble responsibly.

Here are tonight's plays.

Maryland Terrapins vs. Michigan State Spartans

Maryland did a good job finishing the season, winning four of their last six, including wins over Ohio State and Penn State. As a whole, Maryland is not a good team, but they do have some redeeming qualities. Guards Fatts Russell and Eric Ayala combine for a fairly effective scoring-backcourt. They are both averaging just under 15 points per game, and they are both the two best three-ball shooters on the team. While they are not an explosive offense, their play down the stretch is very promising.

On the other side, Michigan State is just running into every single door imaginable since we entered the year 2022. Prior to the new year, Michigan State went 11-2 and was playing like one of the best teams in the country. Since then, they are 9-9, and over their last 10 games, the Spartans are 3-7.

Because of the inconsistency of both teams, I think there is a lot of value in the total. The over has cashed in six of the last nine games for Maryland, and four of the last six for Michigan State. Between these two teams, the total has gone under in 10 of the last 13, but Michigan State and Maryland combined for 144 points last weekend, and with March Madness spots on the line, I will ride with the over.

Pick: Over 139.5 (-110)

Oregon Ducks vs. Colorado Buffalos

I will tell you what, Colorado looks really good right now. For the first few months of the season, the Buffalos were just vibing the whole season. Since February, Colorado has won seven of their nine games, and they are scoring 75 points per game during that stretch. While one of their losses during their semi-winning streak was to this Oregon team, they have improved mightily since that game.

For Oregon, their season can be broken down into three parts. The first is an average start to the season, and then a hot streak in the middle of the season, and now back to "meh" basketball. The Ducks have only won two of their last seven, and they have only covered in three of their last 11 games. Oregon has not been a great team to bet on this season, as they only hold a 12-15-3 record ATS.

Oregon did cover against Oregon State yesterday, but they did not look very good doing it. Going up against a Colorado defense that ranks 89th in scoring, 72nd in effective field goal percentage, and 61st in shooting efficiency is definitely a mismatch. The Ducks certainly are a threat to go on a scoring rampage on any given night, but I will ride with the hotter team.

Pick: Colorado +1 (-110)

Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Virginia Tech has to be feeling good coming off a buzzer-beater in round one of the ACC tournament. However, the reality of last night was they needed overtime and a prayer to beat a bad Clemson team. They do get to play a Notre Dame team that is prone to being burned on defense, but overall, Notre Dame is ranked 69th in adjusted defensive efficiency, and they are only allowing 66.3 points per game on the season.

In close games like this, I like to ride with the best player on the court, especially in March. In this game, it is Blake Wesley of the Irish. Wesley is putting up 15 points per game, and his versatility and athleticism on both ends of the court really make him stand out.

Because I am getting points, I am all over the Irish in this game.

Pick: Notre Dame +1.5 (-110)
