Khris Middleton was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 12, 1991. In high school, Middleton led Porter-Gaud School to a South Carolina state title. He was a two-time South Carolina basketball player of the year winner.

Recruited by a number of D1 schools, Middleton was considered one of the best shooters in the country coming out of high school. Electing to attend Texas A&M, Middleton’s best season was his sophomore season. After his junior year, Middleton entered the 2012 NBA Draft and was selected 39th overall by the Detroit Pistons.

Middleton eventually wound up in Milwaukee playing for the Bucks. He signed a five-year, $178 contract with the Bucks in 2019.

Now, Middleton is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the league and is one of the biggest parts of the Bucks’ success and future.

High School Career (Porter-Gaud School)

Middleton played high school basketball at Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, South Carolina. During his sophomore season, Middleton averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game. During his junior season, he upped those numbers to 21 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He was also named the South Carolina player of the year.

Middleton also won the state player of the year award his senior season, scoring 22.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He led Porter-Gaud to a state title his senior season.

College Career (Texas A&M)

Middleton was a top 100 recruit and was regarded as the best shooter at his position. Being recruited by Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Michigan and Saint Joseph’s, Middleton chose Texas A&M due to the atmosphere and coaching staff.

During his sophomore season, Middleton led the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game. Entering his junior year, Middleton was added to the preseason watchlist for the Wooden Award. However, Middleton’s stats dropped from his sophomore to junior season.

Still, Middleton declared for the 2012 NBA Draft after his junior season.

NBA Career

Middleton was drafted by the Detroit Pistons 39th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He was demoted to the development league during his rookie season but eventually returned and played a total of 27 games his rookie season. After his rookie year, Middleton was traded in July, along with Brandon Knight and Viacheslav Kravtsov, to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Brandon Jennings.

Middleton played in all 82 games his first season in Milwaukee. He averaged 12.1 points per game. In July of 2015, Middleton signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the Bucks. In September of 2016, Middleton sustained a hamstring injury that sidelined him for six months. 

During the 2018 season, Middleton earned his first All-Star nod. After the 2018-2019 season, Middleton signed a five-year, $178 million extension with the Bucks. He made his second-consecutive All-Star selection the following season.
