Jonathan Judah Isaac was born on October 3, 1997, in the Bronx, New York. He was raised by his mother, Jackie Allen, alongside his five siblings. He has one older sister, two older brothers, and two younger brothers. Isaac was born and raised in America, but he is of Puerto Rican descent from his grandfather's side. 

In his high school career, Isaac attended three different schools. He first attended Barron Collier High School in Naples, Florida for two years. Jonathan then went on to attend the International School of Broward in Hollywood, Florida. He then wanted to be reclassified to the class of 2016 so he attended IMG Academy for a postgraduate year. Following that year, Isaac flirted with the idea of directly entering the 2016 NBA Draft. Instead, he chose to attend Florida State University. After one year with the Seminoles, Jonathan entered the 2017 NBA Draft. Jonathan Isaac was drafted sixth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic.

High School Career (Barron G. Collier, International School of Broward, IMG Academy)

In his high school career, Jonathan Isaac attended three different schools. First, Isaac attended Barron Collier High School in Naples, Florida. He attended this school for two years. Following his sophomore year, Isaac transferred to the International School of Broward in Hollywood, Florida. He played there for his junior and senior years. Isaac then hoped to be reclassified, so he attended a postgraduate year at IMG Academy in 2016. His excellent high school career led him to be invited to play in the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit All-Star games. Isaac was subsequently rated as a 5-star recruit and ranked 12th overall in his class. After flirting with the idea of entering the 2016 NBA Draft, Isaac decided to attend college. 

College Career (Florida State Seminoles)

Passing on the idea of entering the 2016 NBA Draft after attending IMG Academy, Isaac decided to attend Florida State University. Jonathan showed an instant impact right away, pouring in 20 points against Iona in just his second career game. Shortly after, on January 18, 2017, Isaac had a memorable game against ACC foe Notre Dame. He posted 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 blocks against their conference rival. Isaac and the top-10 ranked Seminoles moved on to the ACC Tournament but were defeated by Notre Dame in the semi-finals. In the NCAA Tournament, they were eliminated in the Round of 32 by Xavier. Through his two games in the tournament, Isaac tallied a total of 25 points. Following his one year at Florida State, Isaac was named to the All- ACC Freshman Team. He then declared for the 2017 NBA Draft. 

NBA Career

Jonathan Isaac was drafted by the Orlando Magic with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft on June 22, 2017. His rookie year was not what he had hoped it would be, as an early ankle sprain accused him to miss some time. Following his return, he was assigned to the Lakeland Magic, the Orlando Magic’s NBA G League affiliate. 

In Isaac’s second year he became a starter for the Orlando Magic. He posted a career-high 20 points in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans on February 12, 2019. In the 2018-19 season, he averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. In the 2019-20 season, Isaac has continued to show growth. He topped his previous career-high with a 24 point outing against the Toronto Raptors on October 28, 2019. He was averaging 12 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game before suffering an injury on January 1, 2020, against the Washington Wizards. Isaac was expected to miss eight to ten weeks, but the suspension in play due to Covid-19 may benefit Isaac.
