DeAndre Ayton Biography Details, Age, Net Worth, & Basketball Career

Deandre Ayton was born on July 23, 1998, in Nassau, Bahamas. His mother Andrea and stepfather Alvin raised him. He considers his stepfather Alvin as his father, who helped pay his way through basketball camps growing up. Ayton moved to California to play high school basketball after he was starting to be scouted at age 12.

After two years at Balboa School in California, Ayton transferred to Hillcrest Prep Academy in Phoenix, Arizona for his final two years. Playing alongside Marvin Bagley III, Ayton eventually helped lead Hillcrest Prep to a national ranking. Considered the top center of his high school class, Ayton elected to attend Arizona.

After just one year at Arizona, Ayton declared for the 2018 NBA Draft where he was the #1 overall pick by the Phoenix Suns (their first #1 overall pick in franchise history). Ayton has been a double-double machine his entire career. He was the fastest in franchise history to 1,000 rebounds, doing it in just 94 games. He averaged a double-double his rookie season. After a 25-game suspension for violating the league’s anti-drug policy during the start of his second season, Ayton returned to secure yet another double-double.

Now the 6’11” center/power forward is the focal point of the Phoenix Suns and their quest to rebuild and once again become a contender franchise in the NBA.
