Caris LeVert was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 25th, 1994. The son of a teacher and graphic designer, LeVert has a younger brother who also played college basketball. After receiving very little recruiting attention out of high school, LeVert elected to attend Michigan.

After numerous injuries during his collegiate career, LeVert was selected 20th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2016 NBA Draft. He was quickly sent to the Brooklyn Nets for Thaddeus Young. 

LeVert has had an injury-plagued NBA career as well. However, when he has been on the court, LeVery has been one of the Nets’ best players over the last two years. He signed a three-year contract extension in 2019 with the Brookly Nets worth over $52 million and is now a focal point of the Nets immediate future.

High School Career (Pickerington High School Central)

As a senior, LeVert led Pickerington Central to a 26-2 record and the 2012 OHSAA Division I State Championship. LeVert was named the 2012 Columbus Dispatch Metro Player of the Year and to the 2012 AP All-Ohio Second Team. 

College Career (Michigan)

LeVert was not highly recruited out of high school. His only official visit was to Alabama State. He originally committed to Ohio University. When coach John Groce got hired by Illinois, LeVert instead decided to attend Michigan.

After two relatively quiet years at Michigan, LeVert was named a first-team All-Big Ten preseason selection prior to the start of his junior year. Due to injury issues, LeVert elected to return to Michigan for his senior year over fears of his draft stock falling. However, LeVert suffered another injury during his senior season that ended his college career prematurely.

NBA Career

LeVert was drafted 20th overall by the Indiana Pacers despite his injury concerns. He was later traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Thaddeus Young. LeVert didn’t make his NBA debut until December due to injury. He made his first career start the following February.

LeVert began to see some starting time during his second NBA season. More injuries caused him to miss 10 games during the season. In his third season, LeVert began the season as a starter. However, he was injured a couple of weeks into the season, causing him to miss 42 games. Levert missed a couple of months from November to January during his fourth season due to a thumb injury.
