Here's How Much a Luka Doncic Jersey Would be Worth If You Bought with Dogecoin in March
Cryptocurrency is all the rage these days.
With the rise of Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptos, divisive digital currencies are starting to become more widely accepted among the masses.
But no other cryptocurrency has had the type of meteoric rise that Dogecoin has experienced.
The coin was introduced in 2013 and its rocketship to the moon really started to take off in Dec. 2020, along with the GameStop stock price. But now with Elon Musk's endorsement — along with his appearance on "Saturday Night Live" — Dogecoin has skyrocketed more than 17,000% over the past year.
Musk isn't the only one who has helped grow the Doge army, though.
The Dallas Mavericks, owned by Mark Cuban, became the first NBA team to accept Dogecoin as a form of payment to buy tickets and merchandise online back on March 4, 2021, when Dogecoin was worth $.049.
That means that a Luke Doncic swingman jersey, priced at $125, was worth approximately 2,551 Dogecoins at the time.
But what about today?
As of May 10, Dogecoin is priced at $.46, which makes that same jersey worth $1,173.46 today. And that's after the meme coin dropped more than a quarter following Musk's "SNL" appearance.
At its peak, Dogecoin has hit a little over $.70, which would place Doncic jersey's value at $1,785.70.
Now if it was a Boban Marjanovic, it might be worth it.
