The Hawks entered the 2020-21 campaign with playoff aspirations but Atlanta has been one of the biggest disappointments so far. The Hawks are currently 14-20 and 11th in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks are hopeful that assistant coach Nate McMillan will take over as interim head coach, according to ESPN.
In two-plus seasons as the Hawks leading man, Pierce was 63-120 and failed to make the playoffs.
