Rays' Tyler Glasnow Looks at 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli's Picture to Get Mad
Getting and staying motivated is one of the most important parts of being a consistently great athlete.
Being able to find something that completely motivates a player — whether through dedication to family, a fear of failure, or many, many other ways — helps gives those stars an edge.
One of the most motivating factors is, of course, hate.
Tampa Bay Rays ace Tyler Glasnow reportedly uses hate to stay motivated before every game. According to ESPN, Glasnow would get mad before games by staring at a picture of "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli.
I’ve been saving this anecdote for a story, but screw it. Too good to squirrel away.

Someone suggested Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow try to get angry before starts. To do this, he would look at pictures of one person. He pulled out his phone and showed me.
It was Martin Shkreli. pic.twitter.com/TJHpgp1iTE
Shkreli, one of the most reviled people on Earth, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for fraud. He became loathed by the masses after raising the price of Daraprim, a potentially life-saving drug, from $13.50 to $750 a pill.
Unfortunately, ESPN reports that Glasnow has moved onto other motivating factors. Perhaps, he's redirected his hate to something else, like how an undefeated Cincinnati squad should've made the College Football Playoffs.
