No. 17 Indiana vs. No. 25 Wisconsin – Thursday NCAAB Betting Preview
January 25, 2012This HUGE Big 10 game on Thursday does not have lines out on early Wed, butwith the Badgers (16-5) being at home and streaking you can be sure they will befavored. The Badgers have really gotten back on track winners of 4 straight andthey will be tough to beat not only because they are at home, but also becausethey are giving up the fewest points per game this season. Wisconsin will have toplay good defense, as they will not be able to rely on their offense that only ranks231st in the nation.
Indiana (16-4) snapped their 3-game Big 10 losing streak with a blowout win intheir last game and since their D has been sketchy the last few games they willhave to rely on their offense, which ranks 16th in the nation in points per game.
In their last games Wisconsin beat a ranked Illinois team 67-63 and Indianarouted Penn State 73-54.
One thing the 17th ranked Hoosiers have going for them in this game is that theyhave yet to beat a ranked team this season (0-4) while Indiana is 3-2 facingteams ranked in the top 25 and that includes 2 win over top 5 ranked Kentuckyand Ohio State.
Both teams have been decent betting ones on the season with Indiana at 9-6ATS with an Over/Under record of 10-4 and Wisconsin at 12-6 ATS with an Over/Under record of 7-11.
The Hoosiers are led by 6’11” Cody Zeller (15.1 ppg 6.4 rpg) and 6’9” ChristianWatford (12.6 ppg 5.8 rpg) and if the Indiana backcourt can knock down someopen J’s and force the Badgers to play some perimeter defense and not just packthe paint IU has a great chance to win this game.
Wisconsin’s big guns on offense are G Jordan Taylor (14.1 ppg) and F/C JaredBerggren (11 ppg 5rpg). Ryan Evans (9.7 ppg 6.6 rpg) is the Badgers leadingrebounder, but he is only 6’6” and will really need help from the 6’10” Berggren inthis game to keep the frontcourt of the Hoosiers from dominating the paint.
The Hoosiers are a much better team this season than last and they may havesome revenge on their minds, as the Badgers swept them in the 2-game serieslast season.
Wisconsin vs. Indiana Betting Trends
Indiana is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 gamesoverall, and they have an Over record of 7-1-1 in their last 9 games.
Wisconsin is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win, 6-2 ATS intheir last 8 home games vs. a team with a winning road record, and they have anOver record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.
Wisconsin is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games when facing Indiana.
Yeah, the Hoosiers are legit this season, but with the WisconsinD playing great I think the Badgers will win this game as well as cover thespread.
